Press Release: Fatal Hit and Run Accident.

The Germantown Police Department is investigating a fatal hit and run accident that occurred on Sunday August 23, 2015, at 8:15pm. A 50 year old male from Germantown was operating his bicycle southbound on Appleton Av. south of Mequon Rd. when he was struck from behind. The operator of the bicycle was pronounced dead at the scene. The bicycle did have operating lights. The striking vehicle fled the scene and never stopped. The suspect vehicle is a 2004 to 2006 Mazda 3 4dr sedan dark in color. The front bumper cover is an open style with fog light holes. The suspect vehicle sustained front end damage primarily on the passenger side.

Oh, I sure hope they catch that fucker.

About 40 years ago I was riding down US41 just North of Tampa (two lanes, 45 MPH posted speed limit, 65 MPH de facto speed limit) when I got hit in the back of the head by a wide-load truck mirror. The truck driver actually stopped, unlike that shit-ball in Wisconsin. I got knocked out; the first thing I remember afterwards was coming to, lying in a roadside swale, with the driver shaking me and asking “Are you dead?” I opened my eyes and answered “No.”

I will never again ride a bicycle with my back to motor traffic, no matter what any stupid-ass law says, never never never.
